Research Abstract |
We found the activities which inhibit or stimulate the growth of bacteria in bovine serum and human serum as well. Inhibitory molecule for the bacterial growth (especially Vibrio parahaemolyticus) was purified by successive column chromatographies of Sephadex G75 and DEAE-Sephadex G25 and Mono Q (FPLC), and we obtained the molecules of either transferin or hemopexin or both. On the other hand, we are close to obtain highly purified molecule which exhibits stimulating activity to bacterial growth. The molecular weight seems to be less than 3000, and it is heat-stable (at 100℃). It contains Mg+ and Mo+. In conclusion, we found that there are still unidentified factors in sera which exhibit either inhibitory on stimulating activities on growth of pathogen.
