Research Abstract

多発性嚢胞腎症はヒトにおいて最も罹患率の高い遺伝病の一つである。本研究では多発性嚢胞腎症を発症するメダカ突然変異体を材料として研究を行った。分子遺伝学的解析の結果、この変異体の原因遺伝子はglis3であることが明らかとなった。Glis3は脊椎動物に広く保存されているジンクフィンガー型転写因子をコードする遺伝子であった。本遺伝子を欠損するノックアウトマウスは、メダカ変異体と同様、嚢胞腎を発症することを示した。
