Research Abstract

中国の半乾燥草原では、砂漠化が進行しており、特にヤギによる過放牧が砂漠化の主要な原因である。ヤギがおもに飼育されているところは、開発の歴史が古く、人口も多いので丘陵地帯の斜面の大半は畑になっていた。ヤギが放牧できる草原は、ほぼ垂直に切り立っている斜面だけであった。逆に、開発の歴史が浅く、人口も少ないところでは、丘陵地帯の緩やかな斜面の多くは草原となっており、そこでは主にヒツジが放牧されていた。
