Research Abstract

長期に糖尿病状態を継続した雄WBN/Kobラットでは毛細血管の基底膜の変化を主とする超微形態変化が生じていることが明らかになるとともに、血管への白血球接着がこの変化に関与している可能性が明らかになった。またこの糖尿病ラットの虹彩では明らかに微小血管癌が増加しており、本モデルには糖尿病性のルビオーシス様の変化も誘発されていることが明らかとなった。したがって、本WBN/Kobラットはヒトの糖尿病網膜症のモデルとして有用性が高いことが判明した。
