Research Abstract

MRIにおいて、毛細血管中の赤血球による磁場歪みの影響を受けた磁気共鳴信号が組織酸素代謝を反映することを明らかにした。さらに、その磁気共鳴信号を強調する撮像法をファンクショナルMRI に応用し、真の脳賦活領域を限局して描出できることを示した。また、毛細血管周囲からの磁気共鳴信号変化と神経活動との定量的関係も明らかにし、MRI による組織酸素代謝の画像化の基礎を確立した。
