Research Abstract

日本各地のコイ(コイ目コイ科)について遺伝子の分析を行った結果、日本在来のコイと、中国やヨーロッパなどから導入された外来コイの2つの系統があり、ほとんどの地域で交雑が進行していることが推定された。ところが琵琶湖では湖の北へ向かうほど、また沖合いほど在来のコイの割合が高く、両者は別種の可能性が高いことがわかった。琵琶湖に生き残る在来のコイは、日本固有の貴重な種であり、早急な保全策を講じる必要がある。
