Research Abstract

ナボコフのテクストによって例証される美学的認識は、同時代において視覚藝術(写真や映画)が感じさせた魅力や可能性と密接なつながりがある。この点に20世紀以降の想像力理論の端緒がある。また、自然科学、人文科学の主要分野のみならず、超自然的なものや神秘的なものにたいする関心という側面からいっても、20世紀の精神風土が、かなりのところ19世紀からの(断絶ではなく)連続としてとらえられ得るという可能性も検討されてよい。すなわち、いわゆるアヴァン・ギャルドやモダニズムも19世紀末に発生した象徴主義の伝統と無縁の現象ではないと考えられるのである
