Research Abstract

出版界が進取の気性に富み、印刷物の普及や知識・情報の伝達の迅速化と広範化の進展がみられた18世紀英国に注目し、書物を刊行した作家ばかりでなく、書簡や日記などの記録を残した人々について、「書く」あるいは「読む」ということが果たした役割を考察した。そこにみられるのは個人的感情・感性・感受性・観察・考察と、それを他者と共有しようとする方策であり、個別性や内密性の重視と、情報の伝達による他者との共同体的一体感希求が並行する。
