Research Abstract

本研究は、生成文法理論に基づいて、英語の動名詞の形式と解釈(特に時間解釈)について研究を行った。研究は、生成文法理そのものに関する研究と動名詞という個別現象の研究を同時並行的に進め、英語の動名詞の時間解釈は、ある種の経済性(economy)の原理によって制限されていることを論じた。また、動名詞補部は派生名詞(derived nominal)との共通性をかなり多く持っており、特に時間解釈の面における共通性を指摘した。
