Research Abstract |
The chief aim of our project is to explicate characteristics of Ricardo research in Japan through comparisons with the history of Ricardo research in Western Europe and with the studies of other classical economists in Japan. In order to attain this purpose, each research assignment person has taken part in inquiries and researches at each special field of study, bearing our unification theme in mind. Moreover, we held 4 times meetings jointly with the Ricardo study group and an all-day long meeting uniquely. Professor Nakamura, Professor Martin, Professor Porta, and Professor Shiozawa were invited to each study meeting, and they reported their researchs concerning with our theme, and all assignment persons had an opportunity of a report in it, and exchange of opinions was put on it. The special feature of Ricardo research in Japan which became clear through these researches is the following. 1.Ricardo research in Japan has taken the procedure to be inherent in the Ricardo literature and the logic of Ricardo himself. This point serves as the conspicuous special feature, when we compare it with France in which even translation of Ricardo literature has not yet completed and Italy which has Sraffa who read his own theory in the inside of Ricardo. Moreover, it is remarkble that this research style has become strong at the postwar period rather than prewar days. 2.The mainstream of Ricardo research in Japan has bearing the interpretation of Ricardo of Marx in mind aside whether it was approved or not. Although this point has not changed in the postwar period from prewar days, in postwar research, the posture in which it is going to avoid an ideological decision has become strong. It attracts attention that whether Japan's Ricardo research will approach the Western type which has controversies between Sraffian and Neo classical school.
