Research Abstract

第2次世界大戦後の女性労働市場におけるエスニック・グループ間の相互関係を、政府文書や当時の社会調査などを主たる資料として分析した。福祉国家成立期・初期において, 移民女性は未婚白人女性が忌避する職場に労働力を提供し, 福祉国家体制に必要な労働力を供給した. 白人女性もパートタイマーとして利用されたが, パートタイム労働とエスニック・マイノリティ女性の労働は補完関係である. 60年代後半以降, マイノリティ女性においても, 一定程度の社会上昇が見られた。その過程では、多くの労働争議も起こったが、個々の女性団体からの協力は得られるものの白人中心の女性運動一般からの援助は得られなかった。
