Research Abstract |
As a method of research for clinical psychology, the interest toward qualitative research is becoming stronger recently. However, the essential characteristics of the qualitative research and the required factors for this method's implementation are still undiscovered. In this study, the previous discussions about the qualitative research are examined philologically and perceptively. Some problems have risen from this examination. Therefore we have dealt with these problems by analyzing the process of clinical practice and analyzing participatory research study. And through this analysis we have clarified the required characteristics of the qualitative study. Moreover, we have shown the interrelationship of qualitative research and process of clinical practice. The purpose of this study is to construct the theory about above themes. 1. Continuing 2006, we have invited Haruhiko Shimoyama (Professor of Tokyo University), Shigeyuki Eguchi (chief director of Tokyo Musashino Hospital, Psychiat

ric Training) and Yasuo Tanaka (Professor of Hokkaido University). And we have examined the method, developmental process and derivation of conclusion in qualitative research for the theoretical investigation of the qualitative research in clinical practices. 2. Continuing 2006, we have visited the reform school (one institute) and children care home (two institutes) for the participatory investigative research(seven times, staying for one to two nights). This is to examine the factors useful for the recovery from abusive experiences and the factors necessary for the restoration of family relationships. We have developed our discussions about the required characteristics for qualitative research in clinical practices combined with the findings in 2006. 3. We have visited Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. It is because this place is famous for its active mental health activity and substantial psychological support service. In this visit, we have done the followings; (1) Discussion with the research group making programs for the improvement of child welfare and mental health in school. (1) Interchange of information with the researcher in auditory language research center about the facts of hearing-impaired person's support. And observation of demonstration about the facts of hearing examination. Less
