Research Abstract |
The high temperature damage about carbon stripper foils has been studied to resolve the short lifetime problem on the high intensity particle accelerators,. This study has been realized hybrid type carbon stripper foils with high durability over 2000K. Results from the experiment are summarized blow. (1) By using the high current de negative ion beam, the very high temperature condition of over 2500K was realized. (2) The damages (growth of distortion, reduced thickness, formation of pin-hole) were studied with high temperature of around 2000K. (3) The irradiation by high current 650keV H-ion beam were executed with stable beam condition during the machine time of 200hours. And the hybrid type carbon stripper foil showed the long lifetime with over 1500K. (4) Comparison of several materials as stripper foil was carried out; (a) Commercially available carbon foil (b) Newly developed KEK hybrid type carbon foil (c) SNS diamond foil (d) Commercially available diamond foil.
