Research Abstract

摩擦力顕微鏡(FFM)が開発されて原子スケールでの摩擦力の観測が可能となり、ナノスケールのコンタクトの摩擦に対して巨視的な接触面での摩擦則が成立しないことが明らかになっている。本研究の目的は、ナノスケールコンタクトの摩擦機構を明らかにし、摩擦が消滅する超潤滑の出現機構と出現条件を解明することである。
FFMでの単針の運動をTomlinsonモデルを用いて調べ、以下のことがらを明らかにした。
(1)FFMで観測される摩擦力のスキャン速度飽和について、新たな機構を提唱した。
(2)単針先端が複数個の原子で構成される場合の摩擦機構を明らかにした。
(3)FFM単針を振動させながらスキャンしたときに観測される摩擦消失(動的超潤滑)の機構を明らかにした。
