Research Abstract |
Single layer of the permeable wave absorber is basic structure of this wave absorber. On the basic structure and multilayer structure, the design and measurement had already been performed, and the validity had been clarified. Therefore, firstly nonreflection conditions from both sides of the permeable wave absorber have been investigated. It is clarified that 3-layer absorbers are fundamental structure and can be simply superimposed for more attenuation of the absorber. It is also clarified that the thickness of the intermediate layer of the 3-layer absorber can be arbitrarily designed to downsize it. Next, metamaterialization was examined by mixing thin metallic wires or coils into the dielectric layer. It is found that remarkable change appears in the reflection and transmission characteristics of the layer. The thin metallic wires of nearly half wavelength strongly responds to the electric field and coils of nearly one wavelength to the magnetic field. So the mixed material can be expected to operate as metamaterials. In addition, an estimation method of electrical parameters of the mixing medium by using a network model is developed in order to clarify the electrical characteristics of the medium in which the metamaterial is mixed. Effects of the asymmetry of mixing model on the effective dielectric constant are clarified.
