Research Abstract

植物が持つ化学的生体防御機構を人為的に補助・補強する技術の開発を目指し、ハダニ類およびチョウ目咀嚼性昆虫が持つ対抗適応機構を分子レベルで調べた。その結果、ハダニのカンキツへの寄生の可否には、カンキツ葉中の微極性の複数成分が関与することが示唆された。また、チョウ目咀嚼性昆虫において、UDP-グルコシルトランスフェラーゼ(glucosyltransferase)が、植物二次代謝物質の解毒酵素として重要な働きを持つことが示唆された。
