Research Abstract

乳牛の泌乳量は、ミルクを生産する細胞である乳腺上皮細胞の数によって規定される。したがって乳腺上皮細胞の増殖・分化を促進し細胞死(アポトーシス)を抑制することは乳量の増加につながる。成長ホルモンや催乳ホルモン(デキサメサゾン、インスリン、プロラクチン)は、乳腺上皮細胞の増殖・分化を促進しアポトーシスを抑制するが、その作用機構においてIGFBP-3と-5が重要な役割を果たしている可能性が明らかになった。
