Research Abstract |
造血現象は造血幹細胞という種が、造血微小環境という畑において育つ過程を示すものであり、種、畑いずれの欠陥も結果的に貧血等の原因となる。本研究では「畑」である造血微小環境に遺伝的欠陥を有するマウスをモデルとし、畑の最も重要な構成細胞であるストローマ細胞が、種々の生理活性物質を産生することにより血球の産生を制御していることを明らかとした。さらに病的ストローマ細胞を正常細胞に置換する等の方法、すなわち「畑を耕す」ことにより異常造血状態を回復させる技術の開発に成功した
