Research Abstract

緑内障は網膜神経節細胞がアポトーシスで減少し、最終的には失明する疾患で、日本の中途失明原因では第1位である。緑内障は原発性と続発性に分類される。ステロイドの点眼あるいは全身投与により反応性に眼圧が上昇し、続発緑内障が発症することがある。これをステロイド緑内障という。ステロイドによる眼圧上昇について臨床疫学的研究および組織学的研究を行い、ステロイド緑内障の発症メカニズムについて多くの問題点を明らかにした。
