Research Abstract |
The above findings suggest that it is difficult to practice nursing care without a clear theoretical basis, and that nursing administrators ultimately is the one of to promote and support the good nursing care. The subjects were 207 nursing practitioners who took part in the course of nursing administration and 105 nursing administrators who engaged in service department in 200 over beds hospital in A prefecture, with 78% return rate for the former and 55% for the latter. Findings can be summarized as follows ; 1)In basic nursing educational programs, 78% nursing practitioners have studied about nursing theory and 60% of them have learned nursing ethics. 2)In their hospitals, about 46% of subjects participated in the program about nursing theory, but they didn't use single theory in nursing practice. The most used theory was [The standard nursing care plan]. 3)In their 47% hospitals, the program of nursing ethics were organized, but only 16% practitioners attended the programs. 4)From perspective of nursing administrators, the attitude of nursing theory that they didn't agree was[we need to use the single theory in nursing practice], and in the further education in hospitals they set up the program about nursing theory (30%), the program about nursing, ethics (52%) and the program about nursing process (59%) The above findings suggest that it is difficult to practice nursing care without a clear theoretical basis, and that nursing administrators ultimately is the one of to promote and support the good nursing care.
