Research Abstract

本年度は主にトンネル構造型LiMn2O4の量子磁性の研究を進めた。この物質の磁化率の温度変化を調べた結果、低温でスピングラス的な振る舞いが認められた。さらに十分な低温で磁化の時間緩和を調べ結果、スピングラス的な振る舞いと合致した。並行して、参照として同系構造を有するNaV2O4の磁気的性質についても検討を進めた。価数が異なるCaイオンをNaサイトに導入して、磁気的電気的性質の変化の様子を調べた。母体で認められた約150K付近の温度で見られた反強磁性転移が置換の度合いが進むにつれ(Ca/(Na、Ca)<0.7)、かなりブロードに変化したが、転移温度の範囲は大きく変化しなかった(120-160K程度)。電気伝導性の測定では、不純物の影響を含む試料の質の問題が大きく、実験結果が不明瞭であったため、正確な電子状態の検証に必要なCa含有高品質単結晶の育成が重要だと思われた。
NaV2O4の単結晶試料を用いて、高分解能光電子分光法による電子状態の研究に取り組んだ。構造異方性に起因する低次元金属状態を反映していると思われる非フェルミ液体的な金属状態を示唆するスペクトルが得られた。これらの結果は、学術的にかなり興味深く、NaV2O4の本質的な電子状態の解明に役立つと思われる。
