Research Abstract

微弱な直流電子ビームをセンサーに触れさせず、非破壊的に測定するための検証システムを構築した。電気光学結晶LiNbO3を用いて、荷電粒子電場が結晶表面に与える局所屈折率変動をその領域を透過する光の位相変動として視覚的に捉える測定原理を、定性的な水準で検証した。さらに、電場応答が桁違いに大きくなると期待されるKD2PO4(DKDP)結晶の構造相転移温度近傍まで結晶を冷却するシステムを追加した。それと並行して、粒子軌道を模したワイヤー状電極によるDKDPの局所的な静電場応答性の確認に成功した。この冷却検知システムにより、DKDPを冷却する際の解決すべき課題が明確になったと同時に、近い将来、より微弱な電場に対して、非破壊的な荷電粒子検知の可能性が開かれた。加えて、高強度電磁場が真空中で生じさせるであろう真空誘電率変動の空間パターンを、本研究で開拓した手法により捉えられることを見出し、宇宙・素粒子物理分野の精密実験への応用を具体的に検討した。
