Research Abstract

生物大量絶滅イベントに対して、隕石衝突や大規模火山活動など「引きがね」となる事象についてはこれまでの研究により明らかになりつつある。しかし、大量絶滅の直接的な要因となる環境変動に関してはほとんど分かっていないのが現状である。そこで、堆積岩から読み取れる情報から環境変動に制約を与えるべく研究を行った。生物由来の有機炭素の同位体比変動をもとに白亜紀-第三紀境界における環境変動に対して、淡水環境における生態系の回復が海洋に比べて極めて早かったことを見出した。
