Research Abstract

応力変動と地震活動との関係を調べることは、地震発生予測といった社会的に重要な課題に大きな関わりがある。本研究では、地球潮汐による応力変動、特に月齢に起因する応力変動に着目し、「点過程解析」と呼ばれる統計的手法を用い、それと地震活動との関連を調べた。その結果、応力状態が臨界状態に近く、地震が起きやすい状態になっている時、地球潮汐による応力変動と地震活動との間に相関が見られることが分かった。また、解析手法の改善により、広範囲な時空間領域データを同時に解析出来るようなアプローチの端緒を示すことも出来た。
