Research Abstract

飲水中の残留塩素が食物アレルギーの発症や進行に関与するかを明らかにすることを目的に、動物実験と調査研究を行った。マウスに長期間、0.1%塩素水または蒸留水を自由摂取させた後、卵白アルブミン(OVA)を用いて免疫し、OVA特異的なアレルギー反応について測定した。塩素水を摂取したマウスにおいては、OVA特異的な抗体価(III型アレルギー)、遅延型過敏反応(IV型アレルギー)、および小腸粘膜の細胞障害性T細胞の割合(IV型アレルギー)が、塩素を摂取しなかったマウスに比べて高い値であった。一方、浄水場からの距離が10km未満、10km以上20km未満、および20km以上の地域において、水道水を採水し、残留塩素濃度を測定した。その結果、浄水場に近いほど、水道水中の残留塩素濃度は高い傾向がみられた。更に、浄水場の付近および遠隔地域に在住する20歳代女性を対象に、アレルギーに関する質問調査を行ったところ、浄水場に近いほど食物アレルギーやアトピー性皮膚炎などのアレルギー疾患の有病率が高かった。したがって今回、動物実験と調査研究により、飲水中の残留塩素は、アレルギー反応を亢進させ、アレルギー疾患の発症や進行に関与する可能性が示唆された。
