Research Abstract |
本研究は、アメリカ合衆国において医療が専門化する過程で、特に女性の身体が公的管理の対象となっていく過程を解明するものである。優生思想が台頭した帝国主義時代,特に第一次世界大戦期において、国家の将来を担う乳幼児の生命と健康の保護、及びそのための母体保護は国家的問題となった。その過程で、技術の発達、人々の生命観・身体観・家族観・女性観の変化、身体管理の方法が交錯する様相を描き出した。
