Research Abstract

本研究では、「宗教」と「戦争・軍隊」とのかかわりを実証的レベルと思想的レベルの二面から扱った。一つは、アメリカ軍に専属の聖職者である従軍チャプレン(いわゆる従軍牧師)の歴史、位置づけ、任務内容について、主に軍内部の資料を用いて分析した。もう一つは、旧日本軍におけるキリスト教徒の特攻隊員および戦後キリスト教徒になった元特攻隊員の宗教的死生観や宗教的平和論について、彼らが書き残した日記、書簡、エッセー等を通して考察した。
