Research Abstract

本研究は、ゲオルク・クリストフ・リヒテンベルクがウィリアム・ホガースの銅版画を解説した『ホガース銅版画詳解』(1794-99)における言語とイメージという表現媒体の関係を考察したものである。その結果、リヒテンベルクが現代の美術史学と多くの問題意識を共有しているという現代性と、それは彼がホガース解釈を実践するテクストの言説を分析することではじめて浮かび上がってくるという歴史性とが見出された。そして、言語とイメージを相互にその特質を解明しあうものととらえることの意義が明らかになった。
