Research Abstract

本研究では、対象を19世紀半ばから20世紀初頭のイギリスとアメリカの雑誌記事に絞り、これらの媒体にあらわれる日本庭園に関する記事と画像の所在を調べ、網羅的に収集をおこなってきた。日本庭園がヨーロッパをはじめ海外に紹介されるようになったのは19世紀末頃であるが、その伝達プロセスについてはこれまで十分に検証されてこなかった。本調査では、そのプロセスを明らかにし、欧米における「日本庭園像」の形成を考察するために必要な資料を収集することができた。
