Research Abstract

我が国の国際競争力を維持する上で、英語を中心とした外国語教育(第二言語教育)は、効果的な教授法の開発が求められている。しかしながら、長年の旺盛な第二言語教育研究、及び実践にも関わらず、我が国の第二言語教育は効果的だったとはいえない。本研究は我が国の第二言語教育に認知科学、学習心理学などの知見を交え、学際的なアプローチによる新たな教授法を開発する試みである。反復学習による言語学習方法は、多くの応用言語学者によってその効果が実証されてきたが、ほとんどは行動主義的なドリル学習であり、反復学習に認知科学的な解釈を与える研究は多くない。本研究は、構成主義教育手法の知見を踏まえ、認知負荷を極力少なくした基礎文法育成用認知過程のドリル学習装置を開発し、概念化を中心に教育課題としていた反省を生かし、言語学習における手続き型知識の獲得を目的とした教授法を研究した。この教授法は、特に文法知識を効率的に学ばなければならない初級学習者にとって重要かつ効果的な学習方法であることが理解できた。このような基礎研究が、今後の第二言語基礎教育に示唆を与えられれば幸いである。
