Research Abstract

本研究課題では、将来的に観測可能となる宇宙背景重力波を用いて、宇宙の成り立ちと進化を探求する新しい研究手段の確立を目指し、基礎的方法論の構築を進めてきた。背景重力波は位相がランダムで、一見すると検出器雑音と見分けがつかない。そのため、複数台の検出器間で相関をとってシグナルを検出する。こうした相関解析を基に、本研究では、背景重力波の全天強度マップの構築、非ガウス雑音にロバストな検出手法、さらに重力波の偏極・偏波特性を調べる手法を開発した。一連の研究成果より、背景重力波そのものの起源の特定や、宇宙初期に生じた様々な現象を解明する上できわめて本質的な方法論が確立できた。
