Research Abstract

昨年度は、磁揚中ラマン散乱分光や磁場中放射光X線回折の手法を用いて、DyVO_3において磁場誘起軌道秩序相転移が生じていることを明らかにした。この現象は軌道自由度の研究分野において未開拓の分野であり、本年度は本現象め詳細を明らかにするために、DyVO_3の磁場中誘電率測定を行い、本現象に伴う電荷分布の変化を明らかにした。また、本現象を示す新物質の探索を、同じペロブスカイト型バナジウム酸化物で2つの軌道秩序相境界に位置する、HoVO_3,TbVO_3,E_U1XY_XVO_3を対象に行った。更に、外部電場誘起による軌道秩序相転移に関しても研究を行った。
まず、D_yVO_3における磁場中の誘電率の測定を行い、本系における誘電率が各々の軌道秩序相における結晶構造と軌道整列のパターンを考慮することで、定性的には理解できることを明らかにした。また、本系における相図上の2っの軌道秩序相境界に位置する物質の内、HoVO_3では、磁場誘起軌道秩序相転移が生じてることが、磁化、磁場中誘電率の測定から明らかとなった。ただし、Hovo_3における本現象の起源は、2っの相における磁化率の大きさの違いに起因したもので、DyVO_3・のようなDy-V磁気相互作用を介したものではないことが明らかとなった。最後に、電場誘起による軌道秩序相転移は本系では観測されなかった。2つの軌道秩序相における誘電率の差は大きくなく、外部電場による相安定制御が困難であることが明らかとなった。
