Research Abstract

1999年台湾集集地震のとき,震源断層であるチェルンプ断層がどのように動いたのかを明らかにするために,断層掘削コア試料における岩石記載,物性測定,化学分析,組織解析を実施した.その結果,高温下のみで進行する化学反応による痕跡が発見され,これは地震時に断層にて摩擦発熱が生じたことを示唆する.一方,組織解析の結果,溶融した痕跡は認められなかった.よって,地震時に断層では,摩擦発熱による間隙水圧の上昇を伴うthermal pressurizationが機能したと考えられる.
