Research Abstract

大気と地面の境界があるように、地球内部には性質の異なる固体物質の境界があるとされている。地殻と上部マントルの境界はこのひとつであり、それぞれを構成している岩石種の物質学的なちがいにより区別される。本研究では統合国際深海掘削計画によって、大西洋の海底下から得られた地球深部を構成する岩石を解析し、いかにしてこれらの異なった岩石種が産み出されるのかその形成過程について検証した。
