Research Abstract

天然の断層岩における希ガスを使用した年代測定の適用は、断層岩に含まれる生成鉱物の熟成度により異なり、断層の摩擦運動に起因する摩擦熱によって主に解釈される。また、断層岩は全溶融の判断が難しいため、容易に正しい年代を得ることはできない。そこで、断層岩を再現実験で検討し、摩擦熔融試験による原岩の熱変成及び変形破壊が、希ガス同位体測定を行い、希ガスの放出や吸着で岩石の年代が若返る仕組みを明らかにした。
