Research Abstract

一様な配向ベクトル分布を持う液晶に磁場を印加すると、あるしきい磁場H_cで配向ベクトルの方向が突然磁場方向へと変化することが知られている(フレデリックス転移)。H_cは液晶の弾性定数Kと、H_c=π(K/△_χ)^<1/2> d(d:試料厚さ、△_χ:磁気感受率異方性)という関係にある。一様に配向させた液晶を超伝導コイル中に置くと、しきい値以上で液晶成分のフレデリックス転移が起こることを確認した。しかしながらミクロドメインのフレデリクス転移は5テスラの磁場では確認できなかった。ミクロドメインの配向が強固であり液晶の配向転移をも阻害していると考えた。歪み30〜50%程度の大振幅振動せん断で液晶およびミクロドメインを配向させ、得られた配向状態とせん断条件(温度・周波数)の動的粘弾性マスターカーブ上の位置との相関を調査した。非晶ジブロツク共重合体のラメラミクロドメイン構造では、大振幅振動せん断配向がマスターカーブ上の緩和周波数に区切られた3つの領域に対応してせん断条件に依存することが報告されているが、本研究の素材では大振幅せん断では良好な配向状態が得られず、せん断配向と各種緩和モード(分子運動、構造揺らぎ)との関係は明らかになるに到っていない。
