Research Abstract

本研究の目的は、中空球殻構造を有するナノ構造体のコヒーレント電子伝導と磁気秩序過程を理論的に解析し、その特異な磁気特性を利用した新規なスイッチング・デバイス素子をデザインすることにある。ナノ構造体がある臨界温度以下で自発磁性を有する場合、その磁性には構造体の幾何学的形状の変化が大きく関与すると予想される。この幾何特性と磁気特性との関連を定量的に明らかにすることを目的として、本研究では曲面型磁性薄膜を模したスピン格子模型を独自に考案し、その基本磁気特性が形状の変化によってどのような変化を受けるかを数値的に考察した。磁気秩序相の形成過程を大規模数値シミュレーションにより調べることで、系の幾何学的曲率が系の自発磁化発現機構・磁気応答特性に与える効果に対する定性的理解を得ることができた。これと並行して本研究課題では、二次元電子系のバリスティック伝導特性について、二次元ナノ構造体の形状変化がその伝導特性に与える影響を研究した。特に捻り変形を施した量子細線について、そのコヒーレント伝導特性に対する形状変形効果を微分幾何的手法により導出した。その結果、量子細線中を伝搬する電子は捻り変形に起因する有効磁場を感じる点を理論的に明らかにした。さらにこのような捻り細線で量子閉ループ構造を作成した場合、捻り変形誘起磁場に伴う永久電流成分が起こりえることを明らかにした。これらの研究成果は、曲面状ナノ構造体の新規な物理特性に基づく量子デバイスを開発するための重要な基礎的知見を与えるものである。
