Research Abstract

複数の枝をもつ植物個体がどのように個々の枝の成長を調節し、その結果として植物のかたちが決まっているのかを理解することを目的として、枝間での炭素と窒素の生理的統合の意義を理論・実験の両面から解析した。まず、2つのシュートをもつ個体についての葉群動態モデルをつくった。この結果、シュート間で炭素が転流する場合と窒素が転流する場合では個体の生産性や葉寿命への影響が異なる可能性が示された。次にオオオナモミを異なる栄養条件で育て、シンク活性によって個々のシュート内の窒素分配が調節されている可能性を示した。さらにオオオナモミ生育条件を富栄養から貧栄養に切り替えることで、栄養条件の変化がその後の枝に与える影響を調べた。この結果、栄養条件に合わせて枝の成長を変化させており、富→貧栄養では枝を死亡させて積極的に樹高成長を高めていることが示された。
