Research Abstract

養殖魚類における疾病の発生を防ぐためにはワクチンが最も有効な手段であるが、その開発は難航している。魚類の免疫システムの理解が不足しているためである。そこで本研究では魚類のヘルパーT細胞やキラーT細胞を同定するツールを作製し、またT細胞が産生する免疫関連因子の遺伝子を多数明らかにした。さらにこれらツールを用いて、未だワクチンが開発されていない疾病の原因細菌に対する感染防御機構を分子レベルで解析した。これらの成果は魚類のワクチン開発を飛躍的に発展させるものである。
