Research Abstract	歯科治療のためよく撮影されるパノラマエックス線写真から抽出した顎骨の内部の海綿骨と呼ばれる網目状の骨の構造を解析して骨粗鬆症の人と健常な骨の人との間に差がないかどうかを調査した。歯根に対して平行に近い角度(縦方向)で走行している骨が骨粗鬆症の人ではよく減少していることが分かった。同時に皮質骨と呼ばれる骨の一番外側にある硬い骨が骨粗鬆症の人では構造が変化すること着目し、構造変化のある人を骨粗鬆症の疑いがあるとして診断するシステムを開発した。
