Research Abstract

ヒトおよびラット根尖性歯周炎における免疫担当細胞の機能の詳細を明らかにするため、透過型・走査型電子顕微鏡を用いた免疫組織化学的研究を行い、世界に先駆けて根尖性歯周炎および歯根膜内の樹状細胞を同定した。さらに分子生物学的検索も加え、樹状細胞は、活性/成熟度・表面発現抗原・形態学的な相違により複数の亜群に分類され、歯根膜の各部位や根尖性歯周炎の成立過程において特徴的な分布を示し、機能的に重要な役割を有することを解明した。
