Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I have finished my JSPS fellow and am grateful that JSPS gave me such a good opportunity with funding to support my research. I have achieved several important milestones regarding my research. First, I have recorded eye movements from head-restrained marmosets while they were viewing fearful and non-fearful pictures. It was clear that they spent more time looking at the fearful pictures. I have also successfully tested several different 3D printed implants on the marmosets. Furthermore, I have trained the marmosets with saccade tasks and I am currently writing a manuscript on the results. As a side product, I have also successfully performed microstimulation in marmoset cortex and identified an important brain area related to saccade. I have finished the data acquisition and will start to write the manuscript soon. I also successfully established method for brain microinjection on marmosets and successfully traced the superior colliculus. This is very important result. As what stated last year, I have also performed double injection, one anterograde in the superior colliculus and one retrograde in the amygdala in the same marmoset to exploring the connection between the two brain areas. I am currently testing several types of AAV virus to have good expression for future optogenetic experiments. With the grant provided by JSPS, I have also participated several local and international conferences to present my work and got feedbacks from other researchers. Overall, I believe I have reached several goals I set before and I would like to continue my research about innate fear.
