| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Global negotiation skills, defined as, beyond mere English communication skills, the practical ability to lead consensus building by exercising leadership in negotiations and dialogues to solve problems in the international arena, are considered as an important component of global education. Model United Nations (MUN), which is used as one of its teaching materials, is investigated and its participating students empirically analyzed to understand a learning environment good for the development of global negotiation skills.Based on the comparison of different MUNs and analyses of data coming from participants, a concrete learning evaluation index for global negotiation was developed with the purpose to to provid a direction and guideline for rational global education. The potential of MUN as a tool for global education is also examined and its specific role in Japanese higher education is considered.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
模擬国連が潜在的に持つ学修項目を「スキル・テクニック」、「知識・理解」、「姿勢・価値観」の３レベルで整理し、具体的な27項目を抽出した。これらは国際交渉力を下支えする基本コンピテンシーであり、グローバル教育でも重要な学修項目である。能力涵養のためには、交渉すべき内容を重視する学修と英語運用能力を主に訓練するスキル学修の両方が必要である。英語の語学教員よりも日常的に英語で交流できる外国人留学生の有用性や、学術的に適切な内容重視学修を英語で担える教員の欠如が問題として浮上した。我が国における限られた教育資本を有効活用するためにも今後の教員人事計画や国際化プログラムを考える上で考慮すべき点であろう。
