Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We have presented a second-order temporal approximation of the upper-convected time derivative based on an idea of the generalized Lie derivative with the Lagrangian coordinate. This approximation technique can also be applied to the constitutive equation obtained by the logarithm transformation. The results are important for the future development of numerical methods for viscoelastic fluid flows in the research field of numerical analysis. In addition, in the PTT model, one of the Oldroyd-B type models, an asymmetry has been observed in the flow around the cylinder as the Weissenberg number increased. The results indicate that more complex phenomena may occur in high Weissenberg number flows.
