| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We conducted research on semantic information retrieval, search result ranking algorithm, new information generation by using machine learning. As for semantic information retrieval, we improved word2vec algorithms so that they can handle (1) similar-term finding in long-range period, and (2) similar geometric objects finding. Next, we developed search-result ranking algorithm based on machine learning of entity-ordering. Furthermore, we have developed machine-learning-based data acquisition algorithms for microblog data.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
情報検索は，検索エンジンに代表されるように，社会において必須の機能となり，日々多くの人々が日常的にサーチを行っている．本研究は，検索エンジンの検索性能の向上を目指し，機械学習を情報検索の中にどのように取りこむと検索性能が向上するかを研究したものである．本研究により，従来のキーワード・マッチングによる検索ではなく，キーワードとして与えられた「語」や「地物名」と意味が類似する「語」や「地物」の検索が行えるようになった．さらに，機械学習を用いて，検索結果のランキング性能を大幅に改善できる新しいランキング学習方式も開発した．また，生成型深層学習を用いた新規データの生成法についても研究を行った．
