Outline of Annual Research Achievements

「病は気から」という諺を裏付ける実証的知見が蓄積されつつある。しかし、感情も健康も、長期的に変化する側面もあれば、短期的に変動する側面もあり、心身の関連は時間経過の中で相互にどのように関連し合うかは、不明な点が多い。そこで本研究課題では、高齢期における感情と健康の縦断的な相互関連を明らかにすることを目指す。
本研究計画では、1)年間隔で実施した2つの縦断研究のデータを用いて、感情と生存・疾患の関連を検討するとともに、2)日あるいは時間隔で実施した2つの縦断研究のデータを用いて、感情と身体活動の関連を検討すること、以上2つを目的とした。
3年間の研究計画のうち、3年目には、2年目までに分析を終えた研究成果を学術雑誌に投稿し、4本が採択され、1本は学会発表を踏まえて投稿準備中である。また、当初は国外の共同研究機関に滞在する計画だったが、新型コロナウイルスの世界的流行に伴い、諸外国への渡航が困難になったため、国内の共同研究機関にて収集したデータを用いた分析を進め、学術雑誌に投稿した。
学術雑誌に掲載または投稿準備中の研究結果を要約すると、感情の長期的変化に関しては、感情は、加齢という時間経過に加えて、配偶者との死別というライフイベントによっても変化することが示された。感情の短期的変動に関しては、感情は、若年者に比べて、高齢者において、変動が小さいことが示された。また、感情と健康の関連に関しては、ポジティブ感情とネガティブ感情はいずれも疾患罹患と生存期間を予測しなかった。
