Outline of Annual Research Achievements

銀河系内においては、超新星残骸 (SNR) に付随する分子雲は星間ガスの衝撃波加熱/圧縮だけでなく、熱的/非熱的X線、ガンマ線、宇宙線の起源を理解する上で重要な役割を果たすことが知られている。一方で、我々の銀河以外では、SNRに付随する分子雲の観測は多くはなく、銀河系内と同様の作用を引き起こすがどうかは既知ではない。そこで我々は、大マゼラン雲や小マゼラン雲にある SNR に付随する分子雲と SNR のX線放射を観測し、低金属量な環境下での SNR と分子雲との相互作用を調査してきた。前年度の大マゼラン雲の SNR N63A に引き続き、本年度は小マゼラン雲にある SNR RX J0046.5-7308 (RXJ46) を ASTE、Mopra、ALMA、ASKAPの多数の電波望遠鏡を用いて観測を行い、SNR周辺のガス環境を調査した。そして、8つのSNRシェルに沿った分子雲を発見し、それらの内4つは12CO(J=3-2)/12CO(J=1-0)の高比率から、衝撃波加熱されていることを初めて示した。さらに、Chandra X線天文衛星の観測から、SNR の元素組成比を求めた結果、このSNRは progenitor mass が 30太陽質量以上の重力崩壊型超新星が起源であることを示した。本観測結果からRXJ46周辺の分子雲の物理状態は、銀河系内のSNR W28 と似ていることが分かり、W28と同様に RXJ46 は宇宙線の衝撃波加速やエスケープを研究するための良い実験室であることを示した。
