Outline of Annual Research Achievements

強磁性超薄膜材料/絶縁層/対向電極の3層キャパシタ構造において、絶縁層を介して材料表面に電界を印加することで材料の磁性を変調・制御できることが知られている。本研究の目的は、磁性層/絶縁層の界面状態をエンジニアリングすることで、磁性の電界効果の増強を狙うとともに、新たな磁性制御の可能性を見出すことにある。
本年度は、前年度に引き続き強磁性金属コバルト層と酸化物絶縁層界面に重金属である白金を挿入した構造において、材料の磁化方向を決定するパラメータである磁気異方性の電界制御の調査を行った。数原子層の白金を挿入することで、磁気異方性の電界制御効率の増強と低温における効率の急上昇を観測することができた。また、効率は白金膜厚に敏感であることも明らかにした。これは一般的な強磁性金属電極では報告されていない現象である。さらに、硬X線を用いた分光測定から、白金内部に誘起された磁気モーメントが電界制御効率に強く関連することを示唆する結果も得た。
一方、磁性層に表面自然酸化させたコバルト超薄膜を用い、低温にて生じる交換バイアス効果の電界制御も試みた。結果、マルチフェロイック系などで発現する電気磁気効果や電気化学反応などを伴わない純粋な電界効果による交換バイアスの制御の実証に成功した。
