Outline of Annual Research Achievements

一般に1次元電子系においては電子の遮蔽効果が抑制され、実効的に電子間相互作用が強くなる(朝永-Luttinger液体:TLL)。
一方で、Majoranaフェルミオン(MF)が、超伝導体と、強いスピン軌道相互作用(SOI)をもち隣接している2本の量子細線(DNW)との接合に発現するという理論提案がなされた。新奇MFはトポロジカル量子コンピュータなどの工学的応用や背景にある物理の探求という学術的意義につながる。
新奇MFの観測には高効率なCooper対分離が必須であるが、TLLの電子間相互作用により分離したときにエネルギー利得が発生するようにすると十分な効率になる。しかし強いSOI下のTLLについては実験的にはあまり検証されていない。理論的にはほぼ影響がないとするものからTLLが壊れるとするものまで、様々である。
そこで研究員らは、強いSOIを持つInAs細線を作製し極低温で電気伝導測定を行った。結果は理論に非常によく一致し、理論グループとの共同研究によりSOIが極めて強くても相関はほとんど変化しないということを明らかにした。相互作用の強さは結果からの試算ではMF発現に十分であり、ゲート電圧によって調整可能である。この結果は、SOI下のTLLの議論に寄与すると同時に、MF実現に向けた研究を大きく前進させる。
加えてGe/SiGe量子井戸でも実験を進めている。SOIおよびその異方性の強さにより、結晶方向の異なる細線を比較することでSOIの強さの影響を検証できる。また磁場応答の異方性より、磁場下のTLLについても詳細な議論が可能になる。InAsでは多重細線を用いていたが、Geは高易動度であるため単一細線での実験が可能となる。Si系基板の取り扱いは技術的難度が高いが、研究者は所属研究室の技術を応用して新たな加工手順を確立してきた。実際に伝導度のTLL的振る舞いの観測に成功している。
