Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本年度に実施した、「蛍光性ジアリールエテンの結晶成長による蛍光増幅材料の開発」に関する研究は、当初予定していた、蛍光性ジアリールエテンの結晶を規則正しく垂直に成長させ、結晶間で光を閉じ込めることでレーザー発振を引き起こすような方法ではなく、一つ一つの結晶内部に光を閉じ込め、Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM)というレーザー発振機構を用いたシステムでの蛍光増幅を目指した。本研究は、これまでに報告してきた「結晶成長による濡れ性の制御」のような、「形状」のみを利用した機能制御よりも卓越した、「形状と光物性」を組み合わせたシステムである。これまでに、フォトクロミック結晶を用いた光学的な機能材料の報告は少なく、本研究が達成されれば、学術的のみならず、産業界へも貢献できると考えられる。
本年度の研究成果としては、ジアリールエテン結晶の光有機結晶成長により、WGMが起こりそうなヘキサゴナルディスク状結晶を成長させることに成功した。その分子は自ら蛍光を発しないジアリールエテンなので、蛍光性分子を結晶の膜中に分散させ、その機能発現を目指したが、まだ均一性がない。将来的には、結晶のサイズや間隔をそろえた成長を実現し、レーザー発振を起こす表面を作製する。
